Adhesion to the award of the Extremadura Medal

As you know our school IES Bárbara de Braganza, is a public education institution that was founded in 1845, so this year is its 175 birthday.

From its origins it maintains a commitment to languages, and the promotion of reading as elements of social cohesion. Currently ICTs together with science and the humanities are the bet for the promotion of a model for teachers who want to teach their almost a thousand students as citizens of the 21st century: happy, trained, responsible and committed with the environment.

For these reasons the Juan Uña Foundation for the Education and Development in Extremadura will propose our school to be recognised with the highest institutional distinction of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, 'The Extremadura Medal'

The Extremadura Medal was established in 1986, following decree 27/1986, of April 29.

We already have the video of the IV Immersion Day, organized by the students of 4 of the ESO as part of the project within the bilingual English section. We received students from CEIP Arias Montano, Botoa, Juventud and San Jose de Calasanz and for the first time from CEIP General Navarro.

                                   It was a great day of coexistence in which we all enjoyed.

IV Immersion Day

For the fourth consecutive year we will celebrate  Immersion Days in our center, students of CEIP Arias Montano, Botoa, General Navarro, Juventud,  and San Jose de Calasanz will be in our High School enjoying a day of immersion in English with the students of 1º of the ESO of the Bilingual section with different activities and to finalize with a fun dance in which we can sing all together the songs that most liked by students

Language immersion in Los Molinos (Llerena)

Learning lenguage contributes to mutual understanding, develops a sense of global belonging and inner satisfaction. Those who assimilate a new language also learn to appreciate other cultures, countries, social groups and their components, people.

What better way to practice a language for a young student than to immerse him or her in a carefully designed cultural environment located in a unique natural setting.

 

On October 24 we will have a meeting in which we inform you of all the details of the trip.

EXCHANGE/ AUSTAUSCH BOGEN BADAJOZ

Just a few words, to thank you for the effort of having come to Badajoz, this land that is often the great unknown, but from now on you will never forget. Thank you because we know how hard and difficult it is to integrate into a different family, because communication is sometimes complicated. But all of you have been great and families are very grateful to you.

Although not all the students have participated directly in the exchange, many students have contributed to make the organization of their visit a success, therefore, we are also learning more about this great country that is Germany.

I would like to emphasize that this week has been very special, very entertaining, fun and full of activities, breaking the daily routine. It has been an unforgettable week. I hope you have also learned a bit of our language, known our school and our culture and especially have enjoyed our people

Thank you for being so nice and polite. We have had a great time with all of you.

It snowed in Nevarredendoda de Gredos

Last night it snowed and some students could see for the first time the snow. Although this morning was already very little they could not help throwing snowballs.

 We wish you happy trip back!

PaCo: Fisrt meeting in Finland

Two students from the bilingual section of English, Belén Garrido and Juanma Melgar are participating during this week in the first transnational meeting in Kite (Finland) within the Erasmus KA2 project whose name is Participation in Society through Classroom Activities and The cooperation. (Acronym: PaCo).

The schools that are part of the project are "Arppen Koulu" -Kitee, Finland. (Organizer), "Tartu Kesklinna Kool" -Tartu, Estonia,"Szent Piroska Görögkatolikus Általános Iskola" -Nyíracsád-Hungary, "Vyssi odborna skola" -Hradec Králové-Czech Republic, "Osnovna sola Prezihovega Voranca Bistrica" ​​-Crensovci-Slovenia

As a final result, two e-books will be published with the materials collected, which will revolve around several thematic axes: human rights, political participation, equality, environmental responsibility, cultural heritage and citizenship, and participation and cooperation with the Associations.

The students will reinforce their social cohesion, their European identity and their knowledge of civic rights and duties as European citizens.

Language immersion in Gredos

Our kids are already in the Sierra de Gredos, the rooms were distributed and they started with the first activity: "the treasure hunt"

After the break, they took an ecological tour in which they learned different food chains. Later some games to relax and enjoy the coexistence with friends.
